How to install your template
- Move the unzipped template folder to the
share\templates
folder of your Scribus Program Files. For example in Windows, you would go to:
C:\Program Files\Scribus {ver.}\share\templates
If you prefer to install the template only for a specific user, move the template folder to:C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Scribus\templates
- Open Scribus. In the Menu bar, Select File > New From Template (or use
Ctrl+Alt+N
). - Select the template and click Ok. That’s it! You’re set for the stars!
License
All templates are released for free under the Art Libre (Free Art) license. You can access, use, modify, and share them for any purpose, subject to requirements that preserve provenance and openness.
In short, Scribus templates belong to everyone, not a priviledged few - and we want to make sure we can keep this promise. We specifically request that you do not use the templates to create a similar or competing service.
Attribution
The license defines how authors should be credited:
Copyleft: This is a free work, you can copy, distribute, and modify it under the terms of the Free Art License http://artlibre.org/licence/lal/en/
These mentions have to be affixed on your final design (print & digital) and be humanly readable.
That’s it! We do not want to overcomplicate things and do not ask for any other requirements. Ease of use is important to us as is legal clarity. It’s all about spreading our 💕 for Scribus around: if you’re doing that, you’re doing good!
Waiver
We believe that the above will work for most users. We understand however that crediting may not be feasible or appropriate in some cases, for example if you’re freelancing. In such cases, the Attribution requirement can be waived subject to one of the following condition:
- The template user sends pictures of the final output
- The template user contributes to the repository by submitting a new template
Hey there, so far the manger and the crimson -simple templates appear to be corrupted ...
ReplyDeleteHello! Thanks for the feedback. I've checked the files and both markups (template.xml) were not correctly updated... The issue has been corrected. Could you kindly confirm that you can now open the templates?
DeleteWorked for me. Thanks for the update!
ReplyDeleteHopefully this will all be automatized in the near future! 😉
DeleteI have tried to add 2 different templates and they are not showing up when I open the template book button what do I do?
ReplyDeleteHello! Can you write a bit more about what you are doing? Please note that there are both 1.4.x and 1.5.x compatible templates.
